Itinerary

A scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chame, the administrative centre of Manang District and the gateway to the Annapurna region, marks the official beginning of your brief Annapurna Circuit Trek.

After the bus swiftly travels along the Prithvi Highway to Besisahar, you take a jeep to Chame, which is located in the serene Marsyangdi River Valley and passes through verdant hills, terraced fields, and local communities. Additionally, as you ascend, the scenery will change from warm lowlands to colder alpine forests.

After almost nine hours of driving, take in the first views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal on your way to Chame (2,670 m). Then you spend the night in a cosy teahouse surrounded by pine forests and views of snow-capped mountains.

On the second day of the seven-day Annapurna Circuit Trek, you start your journey with a slow climb. After breakfast in the early morning, you travel through thick pine forests and cross multiple suspension bridges as you follow the Marsyangdi River.

Apple orchards and traditional stone homes can be seen as you travel through small villages like Telekhu and Bratang. The trail magnificently opens up to broader valleys with breathtaking views of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II.

After five to six hours of hiking, you arrive at Pisang (3200 m), where you will spend the night in a teahouse and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

Starting from Pisang, you will take the picturesque upper route through the traditional villages of Ghyaru and Ngawal. As you travel along the elevated trail, you will be treated to stunning views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangpurna, and Tilicho Peak.

Along the way, you will stroll through arid, windy terrain with sporadic juniper bushes and historic stone chortens. A brief stop in Ngawal before descending gradually towards the wide arid valley of Manang (3,540 m).

When you arrive at Manang, a culturally rich village renowned for its yak herding, Tibetan-influenced way of life, and breathtaking mountain backdrop, you can relax and take in the scenery.

Since rejuvenation is essential for high-altitude trekking in Nepal, today is the acclimatisation day at Manang for your Annapurna Circuit Trekking. To avoid altitude sickness, the majority of the day will be spent resting and acclimating to the higher altitude.

For breathtaking views of the Annapurna range and spiritual tranquillity, you will go on quick hikes to neighbouring viewpoints like Gangapurna Lake and the Bhojo Gumba. Additionally, you can discover the customs and way of life of the locals by exploring the traditional Manang Village.

You start trekking by gradually ascending through the arid, rocky landscapes of the high Himalayas after eating breakfast and taking a brief rest. You quickly move past small towns and yak pastures, where you can see stone homes with Tibetan influences and traditional high-altitude farming.

You swiftly reach Thorong Phedi (4,540 m) while taking in the close-up views of the Annapurna Ranges and nearby peaks along the meandering Annapurna Round Trip trail. It is also known as the Base Camp for the well-known and difficult Thorong La Pass, where teahouses offer simple accommodations and hearty meals for chilly nights.

Day 6 of your quick Annapurna Circuit Trek is a special day because you will cross the challenging Thorong La Pass (5416 m), the trek's highest point, and visit the revered Muktinath Temple.

In order to ensure a safe crossing of the difficult Thorong La Pass at 5,416 metres, you start your trek early, before dawn.  You can enjoy expansive views of Dhaulagiri, Gangapurna peaks, and Annapurna II during the challenging hike through rocky, high-altitude terrain.

Additionally, you will experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment with stunning views of the Himalayan landscape when you reach the summit of Thorong La Pass. You will carefully descend towards Muktinath after reaching the summit, celebrating, and taking pictures.

You reach Muktinath (3,800 m), a holy pilgrimage site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, after passing yak trails and desolate highland landscapes. Muktinath is renowned for its 108 water spouts and eternal flame.

You begin your journey by taking a jeep through the highland trails that lead down to the Kali Gandaki Valley after eating breakfast in Muktinath and bidding adieu to the high altitude area. After that, you will travel by bus through picturesque towns, terraced fields, and villages while taking in views of far-off peaks and lush subtropical scenery.

Our seven-day short Annapurna round trip will come to an end when you arrive in Pokhara in the afternoon. You can now relax by the vibrant lakeside city and reflect on your incredible high-altitude journey.

Best Time for Annapurna Circuit Trek 7 Days

The seasons have a significant impact on the Himalayan adventure because they differ from regular hiking. Similarly, the difficult Thorong La Pass Trek should be completed at the best time to reduce risks and undesirable issues.

The short Annapurna Circuit, which offers clear skies, consistent weather, and breathtaking mountain views, is most popular in the autumn, from September to November. Similarly, the spring season, which runs from March to May, is ideal for this trek, with blooming rhododendrons, moderate temperatures, and excellent visibility of snow-capped peaks.

In contrast, the winter season, which runs from December to February, is colder and, particularly at higher altitudes covered with snow, more difficult but has fewer people. Therefore, trekkers who enjoy challenges and solitude and have experience with winter hiking can finish this.

Because of the high rainfall, slick roads, and potential for landslides, the monsoon season, which runs from June to early September, is generally not advised.

How to avoid altitude sickness while trekking the Annapurna Circuit?

Acute mountain sickness, also referred to as altitude sickness, can occur when people are not adequately adapted to a high altitude.

                Altitude sickness symptoms include:

                • Headache
                • Dizziness/light-headedness
                • Nausea or loss of appetite
                • Fatigue or difficulty sleeping
                • Shortness of breath while resting

The risk of altitude sickness is significantly increased when trekking at high elevations, such as the Thorong La Pass 5416m in the Annapurna region.

Our knowledgeable trekking guides and trip planners have provided the following tips to reduce the risk of altitude sickness for your short Annapurna Trek.

                • The seven-day schedule includes days for acclimatisation to help you refuel.
                • It is recommended to sleep at lower elevations and hike to higher elevations.
                • To stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and caffeine and drink three to four litres of water each day.
                • Consume foods high in carbohydrates, like rice, noodles, and dal bhat, to fortify the body and immune system.
                • Even if you feel strong at the beginning of your journey, you should always take your time and not rush.
                • Talk to your doctor about acetazolamide (Diamox) to avoid the illness.
                • Symptoms like headaches, nausea, and dizziness should not be disregarded; if they worsen, take a nap or head downstairs.
                • Avoid exerting yourself, stay warm, and get enough sleep when it's cold outside.
                • Follow your directions and ask for help if you run into any problems.

Food During the 7-Day Short Annapurna Circuit Trek

When participating in physically demanding activities like trekking and travelling at high elevations like the Thorong La Pass Trek, your body will need nutritious, high-carbohydrate meals. In order to accommodate your needs, our 7-day itinerary for the Annapurna circuit trip includes three nutritious meals each day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).

You can choose from a variety of foods on the menu, but be aware that there may not be as many options as you would like because of the remote location.

Pizza, fried rice, thukpa, chow mein, noodle dishes, porridges, vegetable soup, garlic soup, and Dal Bhat Tarkari are just a few of the many food options available.

Trekkers are also reminded that there are additional fees for tea, coffee, cold beverages, and snacks in addition to the three daily meals.

Accommodation During the Annapurna Circuit Trek 7 Days

This itinerary for the Annapurna Round Trek takes you to Nepal's remote, high Himalayan region. This package includes lodging in comfortable teahouses and lodges in the Annapurna region with basic amenities. The stay includes twin and triple-sharing rooms.

In addition to the package price, there are extra costs for basic amenities like hot water, wifi, charging, and hot showers. High-end amenities are hard to come by in the Annapurna region due to its remote location.

                Travel Insurance

Before starting your Annapurna Trek and Challenging Thorong La pass, you must have the appropriate travel insurance. At the highest trek altitude of 5164 metres, emergency helicopter evacuation must be covered by the insurance.

We advise making sure your insurance covers unanticipated medical costs when engaging in adventurous activities like trekking.

Permits Required for the Annapurna Region

Two permits are required to enter the Annapurna region. One is the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) permit, which keeps track of trekkers' whereabouts and safety in Nepal. The second is the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP), which is needed to access the ABC region's Annapurna Conservation Area.

                • Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Permit Cost: NPR 2000 per person.
                • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): NPR 3000 per person.

Note: All permit fees are covered by our package, and we arrange the required permits for your trip.

                Tipping Culture in Nepal

Tipping is a great way to express gratitude to your guides and porters for their help during your Annapurna Circuit Trek via Besisahar, even though it is not necessary. Tipping should typically equal at least 10% of the total cost of the trip. You can tip more than the minimum amount needed for the trip if you really enjoyed the service.

                Porters & Guides

A guide is necessary for the Short Annapurna Circuit Hike. For a group of less than eight, Mount Glory Treks offers one knowledgeable and experienced guide. To make your trip easier, we will provide an extra assistant guide if your group consists of more than eight people.

Porters are responsible for carrying your bulky bags and luggage, essential to your mountain adventure. In our 7-Day Package, we do not highly recoomened to hire a porter for regular travellers. If you want to hire a porter service, then you will pay an extra amount. Please check out our Add-Ons Section for more details about the porter.

For your information, our packages cover transportation, lodging, food and travel insurance for the porters and guides.
