                      Useful Information

Best Time to Trek Mardi Himal

The Autumn Season mid-September to November, is the peak and best time to go to Mardi Himal Base Camp. However, March to May is another best seasons of the year. Trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp from December to February is also favorable as the sky is clear, but it can get very cold, and the trails often get closed due to snowfall.

Trekking during Monsoon(May to June) is better as the weather is warm and flowers start to bloom and green leaves just appear which makes the trekkers more exciting.

June to Mid September is when the monsoon season starts so, Mardi Himal Trek during this time is less popular because the risk of downpours and leeches increases. If you walk willingly to trek during the monsoon you are suggested to wear trekking trousers and mosquito and leeches repellent spray.

Are You Fit For the Mardi Himal Trek?

We compulsorily do not recommend any fitness for doing Mardi Himal Trek. However, you have to be the necessary fit for going off the beaten path. Any traveler willing to explore mountains and who can walk around 5 hours per day can do Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. There is no direct climbing involved but you need to climb some rocky sections near and high in Mardi Himal.

Why Mardi Himal Trek Is Different?

Mardi Himal Trek is a newly discovered trek to the base camp of Mardi Himal. The TAAN introduced and gave permission to this amazing tourist destination only in 2012. This trek allows you a majestic view of Fish Tail Mountain and other ranges of the Annapurna Region. It is Beaten Trails through the ridge of Mardi Khola and Modi Khola, where you can experience every aspect of foot trails like customs, culture, tradition, and lifestyle of locals.

                      Mardi Himal Trekking Difficulty

The Mardi Himal trek is considered a moderate trek, making it an excellent choice for both beginners with good fitness levels and experienced trekkers looking for a tranquil trail in the Annapurna region. The trail includes daily walks of 4 to 6 hours, with gradual ascents through forests, ridges, and alpine terrain.

Moreover, the trekking route consists of relentless walking in high-altitude places where the oxygen level is very low. The highest point of the trek, Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m), is high enough to pose a mild risk of altitude sickness, so proper acclimatization and a steady pace are important.

Speaking of challenges, it’s important to recognize that trekking in the Annapurna region, especially on trails like Mardi Himal, involves walking through high ridges and steep terrain, which can be physically demanding. Your health and well-being are our top priority, and we strongly advise a thorough medical consultation before committing to any high-altitude trekking adventure.

If you are looking for more accessible trekking options, the Poonhill, Ghorepani trek, Annapurna base camp trek, Mardi Himal 5-day trek, etc. For more detailed information about trail conditions, route options, and customized itineraries, feel free to contact Mount Glory Treks directly. Our team is always ready to help you plan the perfect Himalayan adventure.

Foods and Accommodation during the Mardi Himal Trek

Almost all tea houses and lodges along the Mardi Himal trek route offer quality food and basic yet comfortable accommodations. However, don’t expect lavish provisions of food and lodging as the trek moves to high-altitude places. During peak trekking seasons, especially at high-altitude stops, trekkers may sometimes need to sleep in the dining area due to limited room availability. While this might sound inconvenient, the dining hall is often the warmest and safest place to spend the night, especially in cold weather.

The cuisine is diverse, ranging from traditional Nepali dishes like Dal Bhat to popular international dishes like pasta, pancakes, and fried rice.

For the best lodging experience, we recommend the 10 days Mardi Himal base camp trek with Mount Glory, where we ensure our clients receive the best possible accommodations and meals throughout the journey. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities.

                      Mardi Himal Trek permit

To embark on the 10 day Mardi Himal Trek in Nepal, two essential permits are required:

                      • TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) permit: NPR 2000 per person
                      • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): NPR 3000 per person

Note: Mount Glory Treks will manage the entire permit application process for trekkers, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and approved before the trek begins. This allows you to focus fully on the adventure ahead, without any administrative hassle.

Altitude sickness during the Mardi Himal Trek

You will have to reach as high as 3,000 m above sea level. Therefore, there is a risk of altitude sickness. However, we always adopt altitude-friendly itineraries and trekking practices. So far, we are proud to maintain a zero-incident record and a 100% success rate on all our trekking adventures, including the Mardi Himal Trek. Your safety is our top priority.

However, travel insurance is mandatory for all trekkers. We strongly recommend purchasing a policy that includes emergency helicopter evacuation, medical coverage, and accident protection. This ensures you're fully prepared and protected in case of unforeseen circumstances during your journey in the Himalayas.

The Mardi Himal trek was very enjoyable and we even learned some Nepalese along the way. I have a lot to thank Mount Glory for this memorable trekking journey. They took such great care of us every step of the way. I would really recommend them.
