Itinerary

The first day of the journey begins with a short tour drive from Kathmandu to Machhakhola by public bus takes around 7 to 8 hours and passes through cultural villages, and dense forests, along the Budhi Gandaki River, but the road is bumpy and uncomfortable.

During the trip, we will get a peek at Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Langtang Himal. Following the route, we will pass through Arughat, SetiKhola, and the traditional village of Lapubesi. From Lapubesi, we will downwards to a wonderful path to Macha Khola. In the evening, we can explore their region, and observe the delightful scenery of snow-capped mountains.

    On the second day of the journey, we will start the trek from Macha Khola to Jagat. During the route, we pass through the Tharo Khola, reach the Khola Besi village, and arrive at Tatopani. Tatopani is the popular hot water spring location where we will spend some time relaxing in the natural sauna, before another trek.

    We will cross the Budhi Gandaki River and Yaru Khola through a suspension bridge, then we will reach the village of Jagat and we end our day journey at a local guest house.

      We will continue our journey from Jagat to our destination place Lokpa Village. After passing through this village, we will ascend a rocky path to Salleri, where we will view mounts sring, sidebars, and traditional Buddhist settlements, then we will cross Nepal’s longest suspension bridge and rise to Lokpa. Where we will spend the night on Lokpa and explore Himalchuli and Boudha Himal.

        Today we will take the route from Lokpa to Chumling. Following the trekking trail pass through a subtropical forest of dense rhododendrons and pine forest. There are no villages between Lokpa to Chumling. We continue our trek following the small suspension bridge of Syar Khola to reach the village of Chumling.

        Furthermore, we will encounter side trips to Chumling take Buddhist Chortens, ancient monasteries, prayer flags, and a variety of wildlife, including Mountain birds and blue sheep.

          On the fifth day, we walk uphill and descend to cross the Syar River down to Domje. From Domje we will reach the destination place Chhokangparo, one of the highest settlements in the Tsum Valley, we are rewarded with panoramic views, including Himalchuli and Ganesh Himal if the weather is clear. At Chhokangparo, we will have the opportunity to experience the hospitality of local people along with the local meals.

            From Chokangparo few hours' trek, we will reach Piren Phu, also known as Milarepa Cave, a sacred site dedicated to the Tibetan saint Milarepa. The cave, set into a hillside with prayer flags and ancient Buddhist frescoes, invites a peaceful pause and reflection amidst the rugged landscape. Next, we cross a suspension bridge over the Shiar River and climb through a traditional Tibetan village to reach the Nile, the last settlement in the northern Sum Valley.

            After that, a few hours’ walk from the Nile along the west bank of the Tibetan border leading to Mu Gompa. Mu Gompa, one of Nepal's highest and most isolated monasteries, takes you into the heart of the remote Tsum Valley.

             

              The trek from Mu Gompa to Chokangparo takes you through the Tsum Valley, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and Tibetan-style villages. We descend to Mu Gompa, then reach Chule and Phurbe, additionally, we will pass Buddhist prayer flags on the way through picturesque landscapes and quaint hamlets. On this day we will trek back to Chokangparo and enjoy downhill trails and scenic views.

                The eight-day trek from Mu Gompa to Gumpa Lunging takes a stunning landscape with lush forests, forested hillsides, and the occasional glimpse of mountain peaks. As we upward, the path passes through Gompa Lungden, a serene monastery perched on a hilltop with marvelous views of the surrounding Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal.

                  On this day we will trek up to Ganesh Himal base camp. The climb to ascent takes through rugged routes and offers breathtaking views of the Ganesh Himal range and surrounding mountains. At the base camp, we will rewarded with expensive views of glacial landscapes and immaculate snowfields. After taking this scenery, we will descend back to Gumpa Lungden.

                    Today’s trek descends from Gumpa Lungden to Ripchet, passing through rhododendron forests, and rough ridges, we pass several water streams, waterfalls, and small traditional villages to reach Ripchet- which is famous for its fertile valley with the best farmlands. There we can experience the local culture and explore the simple, rural lifestyle of the people in the region.

                      The journey continues its downward climb from Ripchet to Deng, situated in the Budhi Gandaki village. This route takes through dense forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages, with a glimpse of the Manaslu area. After that, we will cross the traditional Buddhist shrines, kani, before reaching our destination small village of Deng.

                        Today day 12 we will start our trek ascend again from deng to namrung. On this trail, we climb to Rana Valley and move forward to Bhimphedi, after passing through waterfalls. This is the most complex side of our journey. Namrung is known for its distinctive stone architecture and beautiful scenery, offering distinctive views of the snow-capped summit.

                         

                          The trek from Namrung to Sama Gaun takes beautiful landscapes with terraced landscapes, several Buddhist gompas, and surrounding mountains. After a few hours of trekking through the forest, we reach Shyala village, and from there we catch Phungi, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Shimla Chuli mountains.

                          Sama Gaun is a large, culturally rich village that explores the Manaslu region and Sama Gaon monastery and gives spectacular Himalayan scenery with cultural experience. The Tibetan border is very near from there. We stop at Samagaon for a day to acclimatize.

                           

                            This day is important for acclimatization, we spend a day at Sama Gaon for rest, however, many hikers choose to trek to Manaslu base camp, Birendra Lake, or Pungen Gumpa. If you just want to explore Sama Gaon and relax, you can visit the Pung-yen monastery, which sits beneath the east face of Manaslu. This day provides an opportunity to adjust to the altitude while enjoying scenic routes and breathtaking grand.

                              We will continue our trekking journey from Samgaon to Samdo. Our trek climbs us through the terraced fields beside the old mani walls, crossing the wooden bridge over the magnificent Budhigandaki River, to the village of Samdo.

                              The route passes through yak pastures, mani walls, and rugged landscapes as we reach the traditional valley of Samado, one of the last settlements before Larke la Pass. The valley offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayas and offers to explore the local Tibetan culture.

                               

                                Day Sixteen of the Tsum Valley with Manaslu circuit trek is designed as the acclimatization day, offering hikers a chance to explore the Tibetan border at Rui la Pass, situated at 4958 meters. The trail to Rui La offers breathtaking views of the rugged terrain, with striking landscapes that border Nepal and Tibet. The views of the mountains and Fukung Glacier add another level to the day’s journey. After spending some time in this altitude we will return to Samdo, and overnight stay tea house there.

                                  Our journey continues from Samdo to Dharmashala, also known as Larke Phedi. During the trek, we will cross the suspension bridges and start a hike upwards, after some time trek, we pass Larke glacier and reach Dharmshala. Dharmshala offers the final staging point before crossing Larke La Pass and offers a basic tea house accommodation for hikers.

                                    Today we will be ready early morning from Dharmasala because, we cross the Larke La Pass which is a strenuous section of this journey, and then we will get to the majestic vista of Larke Peak. The route ascends over a glacier that moves steeply across the pass, with breathtaking views of mountains such as Cheo Himal, himlung Himal, kanguru, and Annapurna II. This side of the excursion is comparatively challenging as it will the wind starts strongly at the pass. After crossing the Larke La Pass, we will descend to Bhimtang, enjoying an extraordinary vista and getting the best views of Mount Manaslu.

                                      Today is our last day in Tsum Valley with the Manaslu circuit trek. This trail passes through various landscapes, lush forests, and traditional villages from Bhimtang to Dharapani. The route will provide us with a majestic vista of Manaslu, Larke, nadi, and Chili Himal, and then we descend and cross the suspension bridge to reach the Gho Valley.

                                      After that, our trek moves to Marsyangdi Valley, which is a traditional valley settlement in the Manaslu region, and crosses over Dudh Khola through a wooden bridge to reach Dharapani. From Dharapani, we enjoy the snow-capped mountains and stay overnight at a teahouse.

                                       

                                        In the morning, we will drive back an approximately 9 to 11-hour bus ride from Dharapani to Kathmandu, which passes through diverse villages, the towns, and it can be an opportunity to reflect on adventure in the mountains. Along the way,

                                        we will get stunning views of the lush scenery, farmland, and dense forest descend back toward the bustling city of Kathmandu.
